10 steps too far

This FREAKS. ME. OUT.

My horrified reaction does NOT come from a place of jealousy or unfair judgment- I honestly believe this is one of the most ridiculously sad things I've ever seen.

One, I find it appalling that she doesn't even look like the same person. She looks like a combination of a random bunch of other generic-looking celebrities. She is upset that her mother had a bad reaction? How awful would it be to give birth to a pretty girl that takes after both you and your husband and then see her go off and butcher her face because she's so repulsed by the genes you gave her?

Plastic surgery, in general, doesn't phase me one bit. Nose job, boobs, botox, whatever. Go right ahead. But if you come back the next week and look like someone put your soul in a robot soon to be starring in the next Stepford Wives sequel- Fail. That's unbelievably creepy. Which gets me on a whole 'nother topic about just how much technology can do these days. MY. GOODNESS.

This girl should not be allowed to show her face on TV. I would rather sit my future daughter down in front of a Miley Cyrus video and say, "learn," than let her absorb one word or pixel of Heidi Pratt's face. I acknowledge that this is a more severe case of plastic surgery- but it's just as good of an example of how deep someone's insecurities can go. How are kids supposed to grow up and be happy when people are morphing their faces to be called beautiful?

I'm horrified, Heidi Pratt.

Honestly, I just hope that for her own psychological health, she can look into the mirror and finally be content. I can't imagine waking up from that much surgery and seeing something that I hate and that can't be undone.

Is Social Media a Revolution?

Hands down, no questions asked, YES.

Think about what you're doing on the computer at this moment.
Reading this blog, checking your email, facebook, myspace, tweeting and youtubing while taking side glances at your phone to see if you've missed a call or received a text message.

It's hard to ignore when the majority of people turn to the web for almost everything, people are finding life partners on internet dating sites and watching movies and TV shows on iPods. The revolution is inevitable.

I wholeheartedly believe my choice to major in Convergence (multimedia) journalism was the smartest thing I could do once I was accepted into Mizzou's Journalism school. I respect and appreciate classic media outlets, but the world is evolving and so is the media and the way society gets their news and information. It's not a bad change, it's simply a change. I do find it unfortunate that newspapers all around continue to struggle and shut down, but eventually everyone will get caught up and make the necessary changes to survive. We're in the 21st century and I know for a fact I'll be one of those old people who swear by their iPod and current cell phone when some other new technology comes out and yet again revolutionizes the way we live our lives.

This video will blow you away. Try to keep up.

Why I Love Conan O'Brien

I've loved this man from the beginning and his last show is the perfect example why.
He is a deservedly successful man- and even more importantly, gracious.
I believe a lot of successful people get caught up in what they have at the moment and only complain about what they don't/didn't get. They forget about all the things they've been given along the way.

Check out his last show/speech:

If he isn't on your "Top 20 Coolest People" list after this... I question your standards.

"Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." -COB
